About this build
Alexa L.'s 2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2 runs a 4-piece Pure White Rock Lights kit, one light in each wheel well. On a ZR2, that puts clean white light right where it counts: on the tires, the suspension and the ground you are about to drive over. It is a simple, functional setup for a midsize off-road truck.
Rock Light Extensions take care of the longer run to the rear wheels, and a Dual Harness gives two leads so Alexa can add more lighting to the Colorado later without rewiring. The lights are IP69 waterproof, so trail water and mud are not a problem. Starting with four is the easy way into rock lights on a ZR2. Want this Colorado ZR2 setup? Chevy Colorado ZR2 lighting FAQ
How many rock lights does a Chevy Colorado need?
4 to 8 rock lights cover the wheel wells on most trucks. This ZR2 runs 4, one per wheel well.
Do I need rock light extensions?
Rock light extensions are for longer runs, like reaching the rear wheel wells. This Colorado ZR2 uses them.
Can I add more lights later?
Yes. A Dual harness gives two leads so you can add lights later, while a Single harness has no expansion.
How it’s installed
- Mount one rock light in each wheel well, aimed at the tire and the ground.
- Use the Rock Light Extensions for the longer run to the rear wheel wells.
- Route the harness along the frame with zip ties, clear of suspension travel, steering and exhaust heat.
- Wire through the Dual Harness, which gives two leads so you can add lights later.
