About this build
Jeremy L.'s lifted 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU is built for night runs. Underneath, a 24-piece High-Intensity RGB Rock Lights kit lights up the wheel wells, frame and everything in between. Each 2" light runs three 16W Cree LEDs for 1,600 lumens, and the whole kit runs off the Bluetooth app on iPhone or Android, so Jeremy can pick any color from the driver's seat.
Up top, 5 ft High-Intensity RGB+W LED whips finish the look and make the Jeep easy to spot on the trail. A 24-piece kit is show-build territory, giving a full wrap-around glow on a four-door JKU. How many rock lights does a Jeep Wrangler JKU need?
4 to 8 rock lights cover the wheel wells, 12 to 16 give full underbody glow, and 24 to 40 are for show builds. This JKU runs 24 for a full wrap-around look.
Can I control RGB rock lights from my phone?
Yes. High-Intensity RGB Rock Lights use Bluetooth app control on both iPhone and Android, with every color available.
Do I need a buffer spring for LED whips on a Jeep?
It is recommended for trail use. A Buffer Spring mounts one per whip and lets it take trail hits and snap-backs.
How it’s installed
- Spread the 24 rock lights across the wheel wells, frame rails and rocker area for even underbody coverage.
- Keep lights and wiring clear of moving suspension, steering and driveshaft parts, especially on a lifted Jeep.
- Route the included harness along the frame with zip ties and seal every waterproof connector with its gasket.
- Pair the rock light kit with the Bluetooth app on iPhone or Android to control colors.
- Mount the LED whips at the rear of the Jeep; a Buffer Spring (1 per whip) helps the whip take trail hits and snap-backs.
