About this build

Thomas G.'s lifted 2006 Jeep Wrangler runs a 16-piece High-Intensity RGB Rock Lights kit for a full underbody glow. The 2" lights each pack three 16W Cree LEDs for 1,600 lumens per light, and the kit is controlled by the Bluetooth app on iPhone or Android, so any color is a tap away. A Strobe Kit (Up to 300W) rounds out the setup.

The lights are wired through a Dual Harness, which gives two leads so Thomas can add more lighting to the Wrangler later without rewiring. Sixteen rock lights is the sweet spot for a full glow under a Jeep, and every light is IP69 waterproof in a shockproof aluminum housing, so mud and water crossings are fine. Building your own Wrangler? Every part on Thomas's build is in the parts list above.

Jeep Wrangler lighting FAQ

How many rock lights does a Jeep Wrangler need?

4 to 8 rock lights cover the wheel wells, while 12 to 16 give a full underbody glow like this 16-piece Wrangler setup.

What is the difference between a single and dual harness?

A Single harness runs one light on one switch with no expansion. A Dual harness gives two leads so you can add lights later.

Are RGB rock lights waterproof?

Yes. High-Intensity RGB Rock Lights are IP69 waterproof with a shockproof aluminum housing.

How it’s installed

  • Place one rock light in each wheel well and spread the rest along the frame rails for full underbody glow.
  • Mount to solid, flat surfaces clear of suspension travel, steering and exhaust heat on the lifted Jeep.
  • Route the included rock light harness along the frame and seal each waterproof connector with its gasket.
  • The Dual Harness gives two leads, so there is room to add more lights later without new wiring.
  • Control colors through the Bluetooth app on iPhone or Android.
