About this build
Christopher G.'s 2002 GMC Yukon gets its glow from a single-row LED Underglow Strip Kit in full color and white with the flow (chasing) effect, so the color runs along the length of the SUV instead of sitting still. It is a clean way to light up a full-size Yukon from underneath.
Out back, 6 ft High-Intensity RGB+W LED whips add height and color you can see from across a lot. Everything runs through the Wireless Switch Panel, which controls up to 6 accessories without drilling holes in the dash, so the Yukon's interior stays stock. It also leaves room to add more lighting later. Want this Yukon underglow setup? Every part on Christopher's build is in the parts list above.
GMC Yukon lighting FAQ
What is a chasing underglow kit?
The LED Underglow Strip Kit comes in flow (chasing) or solid versions. Flow strips move color along the strip, while solid strips hold one color.
How many accessories can the Wireless Switch Panel run?
The Wireless Switch Panel runs up to 6 accessories, and it installs with no holes drilled in the dash.
Do LED whips need a buffer spring?
A Buffer Spring is recommended, one per whip. It lets the whip take hits and snap-backs.
How it’s installed
- Run the underglow strips along the frame rails and rocker areas, clear of exhaust heat and moving parts.
- Secure all wiring along the frame with zip ties and keep connections sealed.
- Mount the LED whips at the rear; a Buffer Spring (1 per whip) helps them take hits and snap-backs.
- Wire the underglow and whips into the Wireless Switch Panel, which runs up to 6 accessories with no holes drilled in the dash.
